Are you really ready for retirement? Find out in about 30 minutes.

Most people spend decades learning how to save and almost no time learning how to retire well. This printable checklist gives you a calm, honest picture of where you stand across five areas of life. There is no pass or fail. Every "Not yet" is simply a to-do item with your name on it.

What's inside

  • 50 yes/no questions in five sections: Income and Savings, Health and Insurance, Home and Lifestyle, Legal and Family Protection, and Purpose and People
  • A score for each section, with a guide to what the score suggests and what to do next
  • A Results page to see which areas are solid and which need attention first
  • A 90-day action plan page to turn your biggest gaps into dated steps
  • A list of where to find reliable help, including official sources
  • 9 printable pages in total

How to use it

  1. Set aside 30 to 40 minutes, a pencil and a cup of tea.
  2. Work through one section at a time. Tick Yes only if you could explain the answer to a friend today. If you're unsure, tick Not yet.
  3. Count your Yes answers at the bottom of each section.
  4. Turn to the Results page and write your scores.
  5. Pick your top three gaps and write them on the 90-Day Action Plan page, each with a first step and a date.
  6. Come back every six to twelve months and see how your scores change.

Who it's for

  • People within ten years of retirement, or newly retired
  • Anyone who has saved but never made a plan for spending
  • Couples who want to get on the same page
